Traefik supports multiple authentication modes, e.g. DigestAuth and ForwardAuth. DigestAuth is for simple HTTP Digest authentication (slightly more secure than BasicAuth). With ForwardAuth, you can implement any authentication scheme. I use it with traefik-forward-auth to implement OpenID Connect authentication.
