PART 2 - GRABBING YOUR PRIVATE KEY: NOTE: You can skip part 2 if you are planning on using a fresh install of MetaMask, or any other wallet that supports importing using seed phrase (just make sure you can use a custom network in your wallet). MetaMask is available on iOS, Android, and PC. Please note that if you already have a wallet imported into MetaMask, you need a private key to import another wallet. To get your private key, go to MEW (or MyEtherWallet). Always make sure you are going to the right site as you’re dealing with private information here. Next press “Access my Wallet”, and then press “Software”. Now press “Mnemonic Phrase” and enter your phrase. Press “Next” and select your wallet address. Usually, it’s selected by default. Then accept the terms and press “Access my wallet”, you’re now inside your wallet (but you can’t interact with DApps yet). Press “MY PERSONAL ACCOUNT” (it’s located on the top left side of your screen) and press “View paper wallet”. Now you can see your private key. Treat this like your recovery phrase and DON’T share this with anyone. Make sure to write it down though, as you need it for this next part. Here is an image guide for this part in case something is too confusing.
PART 4 - INTERACTING WITH AN NFT MARKETPLACE: NOTE: You need to have the Polygon network imported. To import it, check out this guide from the MetaMask helpdesk. You’ll also need to choose between OpenSea and Rarible. I suggest using OpenSea because OpenSea already has the collection details and it’s much easier to use for Reddit NFTs. I will be using OpenSea in this guide. Make sure you have the Polygon network selected before continuing with this part! Go to the OpenSea website (currently opensea.io) and press the little person in the top-right corner. If you are using MetaMask on a PC or using the built-in browser in the MetaMask mobile app, click MetaMask. If you are using any mobile wallet, use WalletConnect. Otherwise, press your wallet brand’s name. You’ll get a pop-up asking for something, press “Accept and Sign” and press “Sign” in your wallet’s pop-up. You’re now signed in to an NFT marketplace, but you can’t see your NFT! To unhide it, make sure you’re on your profile page and press “More” then press “Hidden”. Now find your Reddit NFT and press the three dots, then press “Unhide”. Now, look at the menu that just popped up and press “Continue”. If you’re asked to sign something, sign it. You can now mess with your NFT by pressing on it. If you want a full list of Reddit NFT collections, visit this link. Here is an image guide for this part in case something is too confusing.
PART 3 - IMPORTING YOUR WALLET: If you’re using a fresh install of your wallet, you probably don’t need a guide to explain how to follow a guide. Just make sure you’re restoring a wallet and not creating a new one. If you’re importing a wallet, you might need some help with that. Luckily, MetaMask has a guide on how to import a wallet. Remember, your seed phrase is 12 words and your private key is that long string of gibberish. If you need a wallet, I personally suggest getting MetaMask but you can find a list of approved wallets by going to ethereum.org.
