I wanted a good lightweight text editor that didn't try to be an IDE but still provided decent features. I have been using Notepad++ for a few years now, not only to code but also for general purpose text editing. As with VSCode, it can be customized with plug-ins to enhance the experience.
There are a few options in the market, the most used is Visual Studio Code which is regarded as the most used text editor with its modular plug and play system; but, VSCode is not what I use for a quick script.
