Style systems and smart build tooling for crafting high fidelity color schemes and easily using them in all your favorite apps. (by tinted-theming)
On a side note, lately I've been taking a more minimal approach - I've been using something called zsh-utils, a small collection of single purpose plugins I wrote a while back.
Speaking as a (fairly jaded) developer with commit access to Prezto, I tend to agree, though many of these monolithic frameworks solved the discovery problem - lots of built-in plugins let people just enable what they wanted rather than having to search around for what they were looking for. Other than large lists like awesome-zsh-plugins there's not a great way to find them, let alone know they're going to be maintained in the future.
I appreciate that you seem to hold the same view as me with this - it's a bit of an affirmation that we did the right thing with Base16 even though and the owner reacted poorly. That by itself took a pretty big toll on my mental health and we're still trying to figure out how we want to move forward, so that's not even resolved yet.
