One of the more tedious tasks is having to define shortcuts manually, so I recently started used Xbindkeys which allows defining shortcuts in a .xbindkeysrc file, which works mostly well. For example, for jumpapp to open Firefox by pressing Super+F:
I keep dotfiles in a git repo so that I can just git push when I make changes and git pull when I want to update dotfiles on another machine. I've set up an install script which makes it easy to pick and choose what dotfiles are controlled by the git repo.
