Got this fine N3DSXL today for the very reasonable price of $225! Especially considering the homebrew and games it came with.

A complete guide to 3DS custom firmware, from stock to boot9strap.

The most important thing, of course, is that you're happy with the system. I can certainly understand where you are coming from as I was completely confused with CFW when I first got my 2DS XL 4 years ago. But if you are going to buy additional systems in the future: trust me, they can be bought for much cheaper and you can use the money you save on a large micro SD. Homebrew guides on the Nintendo 3DS are extremely extensive and easy to follow on and it is literally: copy this file, add this bot, click this button, back this up. It also gets you up to speed with the homebrew apps you most likely will need. If things are going wrong or if you want to learn more, then help is one click away on this reddit page or on the nintendo homebrew discord. All of the games on the system you got are most likely pirated and homebrew apps are free. Installing CFW takes around 30 minutes so in the end it is not that amazing of a deal.
