i switched to Gentoo from Void several months ago, having been using a Void as my daily driver for a while (and having made a number of contributions to the Void documentation along the way). i've been using Linux since the late 90s (RedHat 5.2 'Apollo'), and found Void to be a great binary distro, appreciating it for a number of reasons. i switched to Gentoo because i'm at the point where i'm very familiar with what i do and don't need in a daily driver system, and Gentoo provides the flexibility to customise where i care and to not have to worry about spending time on customisation where i don't.
