Are you confusing visual studio and visual studio code? Because they have essentially nothing in common. Vscode is basically open source and much closer to atom than it is to visual studio.

That’s not completely true. Other university with non edu mail work also but have to be registered in a GitHub Repo to be automatically approved. If the school is not there, you can apply for it.
