I had a similar requirement for which I used the react-beautiful-dnd npm package. GitHub repo This is developed by Atlassian. There are a few examples available for the same on codesandbox
Word of warning : that library doesn't work with react 18 strict mode, and it doesn't seem like a fix is coming anytime soon because as I understand it it's not actively maintained anymore. A fork is in the works but as of now still no strict mode support.
