If this is something you really want to do, I have an example of how to do this with a self-signed certificate. I used a self-signed cert since I'm cheap as well, but this should be matched with a checksum on your executable to enable users to see if it was tampered with.
If you're working in a CI/CD context, you'll want to save a Base64 format of the PFX file derived from your self-signed cert. This issue describes how to convert your cert to a PFX file. When you have your PFX file, you can run the following (modified to your use case, of course) to copy the Base64 representation to the clipboard to paste in your CI/CD secrets:
