Seriously get a wifi adapter or use an ethernet cable to your home router. What is the distance? You are seriously missing out if you have no easy way of updating the MiSTer. I have the update_all script in the Script folder(something I recommend you putting on the SDcard next time you have it connected to your computer). It will fetch the BIOS files, and everything you need for all your arcade cores plus organize everything plus all the new pallets, cheats and aperture grill effects. Plus all new cores released including the 7800 core the core you should be using for all your Atari 2600 needs. the previous core was very janky and couldn't play my favorite games at times. The new 7800 core plays 7800 games and 2600 games all ready for you to play.
