  • fzf

    :cherry_blossom: A command-line fuzzy finder

  • Try fzf. If you forgot some keyword you might try to search with default fuzzy settings, but if you know exact word, prefix your search with '. By default it search for files, but you can pipe file's content to it and search for content inside of files

  • Yacy

Distributed Peer-to-Peer Web Search Engine and Intranet Search Appliance

  • YaCy can do intranet indexing for files apparently, although I've not used it for that. Not sure if that's overkill for you. I normally just use 'find' if I know the title of what I'm looking for, 'grep' if I'm looking for a word or phrase in a local file.

  • Snap2HTML

Generates directory listings contained in a single, app-like HTML files

  • You can try Snap2HTML. It can generate a HTML file with built in search function, and it can even export the current view to JSON, CSV etc.
