For a Pixel, GrapheneOS would be a much better choice, IMO. https://grapheneos.org/ Really excellent Pixel focused OS with active development and patches on a regular basis. You can have the full A12 experience and a degoogled profile, at the same time.
Google Camera - most people suck it up and use GCam. The normal AOSP camera looks horrid. It sucks, but there's few other options available. Maybe try Photon if it annoys you?
