If none of this work you could try to set up a cabal project to compile it. Look here for my config: https://github.com/CantoroMC/dotfiles/tree/master/deploy/third-party/XMonad/xmobarbarian and also look at xmonad-testing which contains a template for a cabal project file that you can use for xmobar.
