Did you use the git version? Looking at the releases section the latest one came out before GNOME 40 did.
That's an interesting extension... although it seems my multi monitor setup doesn't like it. I hit this exact issue https://github.com/Leleat/Tiling-Assistant/issues/137

Gecko Linux is also a pretty great option -- it's literally just slightly pre-set-up Opensuse with a couple of repos enabled (Chrome, Nvidia, and non-free IIRC) to the point where Neofetch reports it as Tumbleweed.
