This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on reddit.com/r/googlephotos

Our great sponsors
  • InfluxDB - Access the most powerful time series database as a service
  • ONLYOFFICE ONLYOFFICE Docs — document collaboration in your environment
  • CodiumAI - TestGPT | Generating meaningful tests for busy devs
  • SonarQube - Static code analysis for 29 languages.
  • rsync

An open source utility that provides fast incremental file transfer. It also has useful features for backup and restore operations among many other use cases.

rclone is a bit like rsync, but aims to connect to any cloud storage provider, including Google Photos and Google Drive. I can "easily" download your files from the cloud provider, or upload files, or many other features. The interface is command-line, which can look intimidating for some users.

  • gphotos-sync

Google Photos and Albums backup with Google Photos Library API

  • InfluxDB

Access the most powerful time series database as a service. Ingest, store, & analyze all types of time series data in a fully-managed, purpose-built database. Keep data forever with low-cost storage and superior data compression.

  • immich

Self-hosted photo and video backup solution directly from your mobile phone.

Currently only use Photos on my mac to manage these photos. In the long run I plan to host my own cloud for this (probably on PhotoPrism with NextCloud but also check immich, here's a good roundup of the alternatives of Google Photos). The photos are temporarily backed up to OneDrive. It's working but far less streamlined.

  • PhotoPrism

AI-Powered Photos App for the Decentralized Web 🌈💎✨

Currently only use Photos on my mac to manage these photos. In the long run I plan to host my own cloud for this (probably on PhotoPrism with NextCloud but also check immich, here's a good roundup of the alternatives of Google Photos).
