The pang11 is based on Clevo, and finally after much searching I found a repo (https://github.com/SkyLandTW/clevo-indicator/) which provided manual fan-control via EmbeddedController instructions , but was also bound to gtk to provide an indicator. I run KDE and ideally I would like to have a systemd service with automatic pre-defined fan curve, which was completely silent <50C.
Then it became apparent that if I keep the Ryzen 5700U at default TDP and wattage (30W on AC power), I would be still be spinning the fans often (especially during Teams meetings, duh!) . So I found https://github.com/FlyGoat/RyzenAdj/wiki/Renoir-Tuning-Guide which is a tool that allows to configure sustained & burst max-power, as well as max temperature for Renoir and others.
Neato, I'll try it out. I use dbeniamine's fork of Clevo Indicator to allow the CPU fan to max out to 100% while I'm building Firefox, Thunderbird or Chromium.
