Alacritty supports ligatures? The GH issue is still open https://github.com/alacritty/alacritty/issues/50
So for me, it's because I wrote my own to suit my admittedly very niche needs.
I simply do not want to use anything libvte based. And that's what sakura is and termite used to be.
There's actually a tool for measuring latency, called typometer.
I have a foot.ini here : https://github.com/Dorian-DS/sway/tree/main/foot
I don’t use Wayland, but st instead. It’s fast enough, and the source code is short. No tabs (I use tmux), no configuration, no distraction. It does exactly what I need, and nothing more.
foot is great, dnkl is great. It's so far the fastest sixel-supporting terminal I've got to test XtermDOOM on. (I run iTerm2-based images against wezterm.)
