I discovered ecowitt2mqtt the other day. And then discovered that the cheap eBay weather station I bought a few years ago is a re-branded Ecowitt.

Yup, rtl_433 is absolutely brilliant for this. I used to say "my neighbor bought a weather station, so now I, too, have a weather station.", but truth be told I "have" several. :) (I also use rtl_433 to detect car key presses, a motion sensor for our cat door, the remote for some of our smart plugs and light bulbs, etc.)
