  • Following the flathub build instructions for this we find the actual source code for AvaEmailArchivar. Except, we don't. The repository has 0 stars, an empty readme, a screenshot and a few releases, which contain the built project but still no source code. There is a flatpak and a snap wrapper script, as well as an ELF binary but this also contains a bunch of DLLs, suggesting it was / is a Windows app.

  • snapcraft

Package, distribute, and update any app for Linux and IoT.

  • I found this very strange piece of software in both the Snap Store (https://snapcraft.io) and on Flathub (https://flathub.org).

  • flathub

    Issue tracker and new submissions

  • Flathub does not exactly review the programs itself but they do review how the package is built and the metadata (including permissions etc.) it is published with. You can find the pull request which added this to Flathub here. I don't exactly care for Snap but I'm quite certain the don't require further reviews either. After all, one of the points of Flatpak and Snap is the distribution of proprietary software.
