i found a script someone made (here) but it just isnt working, when i use bottle i get an error that it failed to login, and when i use the script wget just times out. i manually downloaded the script, but the script has wget in it anyway. i tried adding -4 to wget, which didnt help.
I don't have any personal experience with any soundboard stuff, so you'll have to research that yourself. A quick web search led me to Soundux: https://github.com/Soundux/Soundux
> Nobody ever even audits the binary contents of flatpaks on flathub (were they actually built from the source? the author attests so!).
IME/IIRC There aren't (or shouldn't be) any binary contents on Flathub that are submitted by the author, at least for projects with source available? You're supposed to submit a short, plain-text recipe instead, which then gets automatically built from source outside the control of the author.
> The Flathub service then uses the manifest from your repository to continuously build and distribute your application on every commit.

Usually the recipes should just list the appropriate URLs to get the source code, or, for proprietary applications, the official .DEBs. Kinda like AUR, but JSON/YAML. Easy to audit if you want:
Project mention: Imade a simple shell script program to manage packages in Linux. Currently it supports apt, flatpak, snap. It can probably be useful for someone. | /r/linux | 2023-06-23Like bauh which supports AppImage, Arch packages (including AUR), Debian packages, Flatpak, Snap and native Web applications
Project mention: Native Gnome Wayland app for managing social/messaging apps? | /r/gnome | 2023-05-25I had a look at Tangram (https://github.com/sonnyp/Tangram) and it ticks many of the boxes but it's inability to run as a tray app or hidden app as well as the lack of a sidebar doesn't really fit my preferred workflow.

Project mention: ElementaryOS 7 is a buggy mess of a distro. Very disappointed. | /r/elementaryos | 2023-06-18
Project mention: Brave appears to install VPN Services without user consent | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-10-18For Linux users, Junction is a FOSS browser picker that works just like Choosy does on macOS. These browser pickers are more flexible than selecting just one default browser, and being able to inspect URLs before opening them is a nice security feature.
Something like Meta Package Manager? https://github.com/kdeldycke/meta-package-manager
Some of the UI changes I find hard to adjust to, but that alone is not a good reason. The lack of Linux support is something I'll never understand, considering they made the Windows app using a framework that is cross-platform by default. I feel like Deezer just doesn't want to bother testing it on Linux. The unofficial community port of the app works just fine though.

- FOSS software is probably less likely to abuse this, but it just depends how ruthless the publisher is, a lot of people desire to be successful and it's human nature to look for advantages to put yourself above others in competitive environments.
