You create a "bot" via the developer portal of discord, and this "created bot" is just a token you include in your program language of choice. I think there are python libraries, but I opted to use Go with this package I think (sorry on my phone. Just googled "discord bot golang") https://github.com/bwmarrin/discordgo.
