How did you create your custom layout? I already found out about klfc, but 1. It doesn't work on wayland, 2. It's not entirely clear to me how to use this tool.
Oryx is just a graphical configurator. It uses QMK in the backend. The last time I used Oryx was around 2 years ago and didn't have advanced features like Leader Key, Tap Dance, Unicode support and more I wanted to play around with. Here is my config if you are interested in what it looks. I don't know anything about C programming so it's pretty basic. But one can do much more.
