OverlordBot is a hobby project developed by one person in my spare time when I am not playing DCS or other games and not doing those annoying adult things need to do. Therefore the amount of work that can be done in terms of new features is limited when I also have to deal with onboarding new servers, debugging issues, code refactoring and other ancilliary work that comes with running a production application. As well as this I also work on other projects such as DCS-gRPC and its sample applications which also competes for my time.

In order to make it easier for me to diagnose issues across all the servers the bot is installed on, I will be adding OpenTelemetry support to the bot so that I can trace code execution and see things like failures & performance in more detail. For people who have seen the transcription channels on Discord then this will be like that but with far more detail that a developer will care about that an end-user will not. Servers will be able to choose if they opt-in or not.

The DCT framework used by Flashpoint Levant (Formerly known as Hoggit's Syria At War) allows for Overlordbot to be used as User Interface to some commands such as requesting or joining missions. I want to add support for more commands both simple (aborting misssions) and complex (request mission statuses or getting things like location information). This may result in a new "Commander" frequency to avoid clogging up AWACS channels.

Therefore I am testing an alternative voice recognition system based on Coqui, formerly known as Mozilla DeepSpeech, which is the system used on the IL-2 Combat Box server (and thanks to Alonzo of said server for his tips getting started). Coqui runs locally and is free so switching to that will reduce costs for these two servers and potentially open up the possibility of things like OverlordBot ATC running on the standard ATC frequency instead of a separate one.

Definitely and there is a relatively self-contained project that would benefit OverlordBot which is the Generate a Frontline one.

This works visually but is useless for the bot since it is just a bunch of edges. We need to convert this collection of edges into actual Polygons used by the Geo library.
