InfluxDB
Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
1TB isn't big data. Get 2 disks, 1 disks is connected to the RPi and your main storage, do a weekly rsync copy to the second disk and keep that second disk in a drawer. Your 3rd copy could be in the cloud. Take a look at a tool like rclone (https://rclone.org/) Send your data to services like Amazon S3, Dropbox or Backblaze. You could even keep a copy on a 3rd disk with a family member. Why off site? Having 2 copies in your room / home isn't going to do you much good in case of physical disaster: flooding, house fire, burgarly, your little nephew taking the RPi for a blinking toy, your dog taking a nibble,... (I lost data in a house fire 20 years ago, this happens!)
You could put something like Minio (https://min.io/) for syncing via S3 and Photoprism (https://photoprism.app/features) for sharing / tagging on the VPS. Look into Docker to ease the pain of hosting / configuring services on a server. The downside is that you still have to manage the VPS, plus pay for the hosting and the domain name. The upshot is that this adheres to "freedom" and keeps your home network secure.
