Great writeup! I have a few suggestions that all gravitates around using CrowdSec for a few tasks. First of all: CrowdSec is free, open source crowd sourced threat intelligence. Basically this means that it's a vastly improved version of fail2ban in that it's capable of taking more advanced decisions regarding various attacks like slow brute force, L7 DDoS attacks and much more. And the crowd sourced part basically means that users share information on the attacks they're seeing in logs with all other users.
