Multiple users creating accounts at the exact same time, how to solve the issue of duplicate accounts?

  Gin is a HTTP web framework written in Go (Golang). It features a Martini-like API with much better performance -- up to 40 times faster. If you need smashing performance, get yourself some Gin.

  

The desired username is checked in the database before allowing the creation of the account, to ensure accounts have unique usernames. The problem occurs when multiple users attempt to create accounts with the same username at the same time. I'm using the Gin framework, and since these requests happen concurrently in Gin, it's possible that multiple accounts can be created with the same username.
