The shell-like, command line terminal file manager: simple, fast, extensible, and lightweight as hell.
I was googling around for a general-purpose command or script that can be used with fzf's --preview to give a sensible preview of different filetypes. There are some (like pistol), but I didn't find any that have an image and PDF preview that works out of the box.
Ytfzf is a script which is similar to what you said. It shows Yt thumbnails in fzf menu. You can check the code and get the idea, I guess. Its not exactly what you wanted, but I hope it helps for the idea!
CliFM includes a plugin (fzfnav) able to preview PDF files, among other file types, that should work as a stand-alone script (though it depends on a second script, BFG.sh, and a little config file, BFG.cfm). It works with fzf and ueberzug.
