Enable unsupported Thunderbolt 3 peripherals on macOS

  • Actually, I found that even on Intel with a newer macOS version there were some hacks that were needed, and a direct look at the issues in one of the "patchers" - https://github.com/rgov/Thunderbolt3Unblocker/issues/71 is not supported on M1. But there is also https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbolt/comments/ll1twj/comment/gp80obh/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3 claiming M1 works as is (for one monitor on M1, obviously), and https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/379778/macbook-pro-16-and-dell-tb16 claiming that older firmware on TB16 may cause issues on Intel MBP. If you can return it - that's like a project to try I guess. But back to the same question on why so cheap - you don't get much certainty until you try and support after you tried and possibly failed.
