Another detail is that this stream is part of a big "fuck you" to Micrososft. It started when he suggested performance improvements to Windows Terminal on Github, and the official Microsoft team basically told him it would be impossible repeatedly, and gave him some attitude for claiming it would be simple. He then went and built the proof of concept (refterm) in ~10 hours of his limited spare time, on a livestream, blowing Windows Terminal performance out of the water. All pretty fascinating.
