    TypeScript is a superset of JavaScript that compiles to clean JavaScript output.

    • JS optional type hinting is not actually part of the language, that means that you have to use technically a different language for static type checking. That is just annoying for syntax highlighting and stuff, so you end up using a different file extension for type hinted files compared to the final compiled files, which is annoying for other reasons.
