  • Re which "distro" to start with, Doom is great, but I recommend starting with vanilla Emacs and doing the minimal customization necessary to make it usable. You'll learn a lot more about Emacs that way, and you can always switch to Doom down the line if you want. u/daviwil's "Emacs from Scratch" series and accompanying YouTube videos are the best introduction to Emacs, and he also has some videos on org-roam specifically.
