Sure, but due to how the chording engine works you'll find it easier to get an overview of the keymap using this file rather than the actual keymap itself.
In steno it is common to hit 10+ keys per chord so it didn't feel that far fetched to emulate the middle row in the same way. That said, I am not the one that came up with the idea nor did I design the solution. The combo-option in QMK simply doesn't cut it, but you can find DennyTom's chording engine well documented and freely available here.
I'm in the same boat, that's why I started working on the Stenogotchi.
