  • hackclub

🌎 Hack Club is a worldwide community of high school hackers. We make things. We help one another. We have fun.

  • Hack Club | Remote in USA | Contract | https://hackclub.com and https://github.com/hackclub

I run Hack Club, which is a nonprofit that mostly helps high schoolers start programming clubs at their schools. We open source almost everything we do at https://github.com/hackclub/. You can read a little about a summer program we ran a couple months ago here: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/teens-code-while-traveli....

I'm trying to find a Rails contractor who has a really good product eye to contribute to Hack Club Bank, which is a financial tool we run to help Hack Clubs and hackathons manage their finances and become nonprofits. https://hackclub.com/bank/ is the marketing page for it and https://medium.com/hackclub/hack-club-bank-is-now-live-for-e... has some more background on the product.

In this role, you'd be shipping features that require a combination of frontend and backend work. Our backend is pretty standard Ruby on Rails and our frontend is normal JavaScript with pages rendered by the backend. We have a small team of Hack Clubbers aged 13-17 that contribute to the product, and you'd also be serving as a mentor to them to scope out features, break them down into issues, and working with them through code reviews to get their code merged.

My hope is to open source Hack Club Bank in the future, so hopefully you'd be able to contribute to that as well.

If you're reading this and not currently looking for work, I would really appreciate any suggestions for people to reach out to, or profiles of anyone in the Rails community that you're inspired by that I could look into.

If you're interested in the role or have any suggestions, please email me at zach (at) hackclub.com. If you're interested in the role, please include your GitHub or links to any open source projects you've built or contributed to.

We have an awesome work environment: We are a remote first company. We do continuous integration, continuous deployments, code reviews, code pairings, profit sharing, and most of communication is async via GitHub. We value super strongly transparency, do open books, have a public roadmap, and contribute to the EFF.

    Apply at: https://serpapi.com/team

  • PostHog

🦔 PostHog provides open-source product analytics, session recording, feature flagging and A/B testing that you can self-host.

  • PostHog | Multiple Roles | Remote | Full Time | https://posthog.com

We're an open source platform for product analytics that took off after a launch HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22376732). Our mission is to increase the number of successful products in the world. We've raised nearly $30M since that post under 2 years ago, and have around 15K developers in our community.

There are two key roles open at the moment:

    * A developer who likes to speak to customers. We are getting swamped dealing with inbound demand and are growing revenue by 50% month over month. I need our very first customer success manager - to help get customers what they need, and to ensure they're deployed and configured. This isn't a support ticket role, it's about making sure our customers, who are usually very technical, are successful, including (inbound) sales. We could see this fitting an ex-founder really well, but we're open. Our vision for customer success is a strong focus on tooling, documentation and automation, not on building a huge team. Above everything, you need to be proactive, smart, able to help solve technical problems, empathetic and someone that enjoys building relationships.

    * A developer who loves writing - especially tutorial type content, and could own this for us. We've got lots of docs that detail what the product does, but we want to focus on explaining how to build a more successful product, and how PostHog can help achieve those. You might be writing about how to use our SDKs one day, or how to improve activation rates another. Bonus points for a data engineering background.

    What it's like:

    * Fast and direct!

Come help us build the global graph of code by compiling the world!

  • tenzir

    Open source security data pipelines.

  • Tenzir | C++, ReasonML, Rust, Python | Remote | Open-source | Full-time | https://tenzir.com

Tenzir is a funded seed-stage startup that builds a next generation data-plane for plug-and-play security operations. Our mission is to empower defenders with an open platform to perform automated data-driven investigations through combination best-of-breed solutions. Our stack consists of the high-performance C++ database VAST (https://github.com/tenzir/vast), a Rust API, and a ReasonML-based frontend.

    Our open engineering positions include:

    - Database: https://tenzir.com/career/backend-engineer/

    - DevOps: https://tenzir.com/career/devops-platform-engineer/

    - Frontend: https://tenzir.com/career/frontend-engineer/

We are based out of Hamburg, Germany, but cultivate an agile remote-first mindset. If you live in the region and look for a System Administrator, we’d love to hear from you!

For any questions, feel free to reach out to us at careers@tenzir.com.

  • tesseract

Deterministic physics engine for Argo Navis (by star-formation)

To apply, send your Github/Gitlab/sample projects, cover letter, and resume to [email protected].

  • rmrk-web

    The RMRK.app website

  • synth

    Discontinued The Declarative Data Generator

  • Synth | Rust Software Engineer | Full Time or Part Time | London | Onsite(London)/Remote

About us: Synth is an open source declarative data generator (https://github.com/getsynth/synth). We are building Synth with the intention of solving, once and for all, the problem of generating realistic data for testing - helping big companies and small developers avoid the use of production data in testing.

Our mission is to build amazing developer tools that solve data privacy without forcing users to compromise on productivity. We have a few exciting products in our pipeline and we're backed by YCombinator and other great investors. We're based in London and building a remote-friendly culture.

We work exclusively on open source software. This is great because our community is not confined to just our core team and the users, but also includes our contributors - we believe it is way more fun this way.

We're using Rust for our main line of products - and what we would like to see ideally is:

    * You have some experience with Rust that has connected you with at least one of: asynchronous I/O, meta-programming or common patterns for concurrency. Having been involved in an open-source Rust project is a bonus!

  • jobs

    Work with Xkit! (by xkit-co)

  • Xkit | Senior UX Engineer | REMOTE | Full-Time | https://xkit.co

Xkit lets developers add direct, native, embedded integrations to their SaaS app as easily as building a Zapier app. With one straightforward integration to Xkit, developers can add integrations to Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, and others without writing any additional code. Most of the time, those integrations can even be added by non-engineers, like product managers and customer success managers.

We're hiring a Senior UX Engineer to help us define and deliver the user experience for Xkit.

We're a small team without a dedicated designer, so this role is responsible for determining the best UI/UX patterns to employ (using our existing patterns and frameworks where possible) as well as delivering them in the form of working, performant code.

This is a highly product- and user-focused role. We're looking for the rare combination of a highly capable React/Typescript engineer paired with a good UX and design sense.

For a full job description, check out https://github.com/xkit-co/jobs/blob/main/senior-ux-engineer... or feel free to email me directly, I'm trey at our main domain.
