  • swiper

Ivy - a generic completion frontend for Emacs, Swiper - isearch with an overview, and more. Oh, man! (by abo-abo)

  • better-shell

    Emacs shell management

  • Better Shell is here: https://github.com/killdash9/better-shell . I've been happy with it for years. I have only needed term once in my career, when I was using some fancy shell programs that regular shell choked on. I don't know ansi-term. Now I just use vterm when I need to do some work on a remote server and want to bypass the system-freezing characteristics of Tramp. That is a toss-up, though, since Tramp is really marvelous except for the hanging when things have gone to sleep.

  • emacs-term-toggle

    quake-style popup console for emacs

  • I have used for many years something called term-toggle.el, and I have recently rebuilt it to better suit my (minimalistic) need: https://github.com/amno1/emacs-term-toggle. Better shell seems to do a similar thing, not really the same though. I have sudo-open-file since before, which is enough for my needs when I need to edit some config script on my system.
