This is incorrect. Brave removes third-party ads and trackers, but [does not] inject ads in their place. I would encourage you to download the browser, and see for yourself. Also, our source code is all available online. If we were doing ad-replacement or injection, you would see code for that plastered all over the Web 🙂 Brave's ads are displayed in 2 ways: 1) As sponsored images on every 4th new tab page, and 2) as native OS notifications. If you have privacy concerns, you should use Brave. Not only has it demonstrated itself to be the safest browser to use in our reviews (see desktop and iOS audits), by it was also determined to be the "most private" among browsers tested by independent researchers at Trinity College.
