My solution to the romance thing was to create my own mod to expand the game's platonic relationship options. Maybe that's a path you could take as well. You've identified something that is missing from the game, whose inclusion would make a better experience for you and other likes you. Why not make a mod to add soy, cashews, etc to the game? It's easier than you'd think; someone has already built a framework (JSON Assets) for adding new crops and recipes to the game, so you don't have to know how to code. There's an extensive guide online, and the "making mods" channel on the SDV discord is super helpful to new modders.
