  • usbmuxd

A socket daemon to multiplex connections from and to iOS devices

  • According to the wiki page, usbmuxd should start as soon as I plug in my device, but that doesn't seem to happen. I checked and found the udev rule that should govern that at /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/39-usbmuxd.rules and it matches the rules file provided on the usbmuxd git repo. Even when I try to start usbmuxd manually my device just doesn't seem to show up, though running it in the foreground does reveal that it sees that something gets plugged in. It just doesn't seem to connect the device properly or anything. My main litmus test for if it's connected well is to run ideviceinfo. I always just get back that there is no device connected.
