It uses Google's libgav1 as that's what's supported in ExoPlayer. I'm afraid that this is pretty much set in stone as probably no one will attempt to implement any other AV1 decoder. The libgav1 will be used only if there's no platform decoder, which can be available on devices since Android 10 (my OnePlus 7/Snapdragon 855 has it). I tried playing basic AV1 video on 4 year old lower mid range device (Snapdragon 625) it it was fine. But I didn't push it to its limits.
Expect volume boost in the next update ;-)
