Can't say anything about 5 and 6 cause I don't have experience using this feature but I imagine there're reasons for that. There's been extensive discussion around this feature before the design was finalized.
embed.FS wrapper providing additional functionality

I took the liberty of coding this up as a full example. I think it should be pretty obvious that what you want just works, if you are willing to use the tools you are given.
