Why creating a debian package is a PITA?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/debian

  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • fpm

Effing package management! Build packages for multiple platforms (deb, rpm, etc) with great ease and sanity.

  • I don't make .debs for my own stuff often, so I find it easier to just use FPM which would make a .deb that would install, but wasn't necessarily an Officially CorrectTM deb with all the bells and whistles. Looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, though.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
