This is something of an area of interest for me, I maintain the Android version of a major Desktop application and also am the lead on several smaller applications which have Android and Desktop versions. I strongly prefer desktop, but Android is important, there are billions of people out there who only have easy access to Android devices, and treating them as first-class citizens without pulling my hair out is a big deal.
