If you guys have some time, please take a brief look at this thread. The author of Kryptor and I are getting into a heated debate over my choice of algorithms. He believes I should use BLAKE2, instead of SHA3, saying it's "better" than SHA3 because it's faster. And I'm saying that I should stick with SHA3 because it's the standard from the NIST and more secure (by design). Then he starts attacking my choices and saying I'm "not open" to others' opinions and that I need to "change". Change what? Change as in ditch a respected and secure hash function to use something ultimately lost to it? Change as in putting speed over security, when the goal of Picocrypt and Solenoid is security?
If you're seeing this, Lucas, don't you dare reply, because I will ban you permanently, no questions asked. My choices are what have made Picocrypt great and get this far. I've done my research, chose the best algorithms, and put them carefully to create Picocrypt. I believe in myself, and so does my community. There's a reason why Kryptor isn't as popular as Picocrypt, and that's your stubbornness of sticking to BLAKE2. BLAKE2 is not bad, in fact, it's good. BUT, when you question my intelligence for choosing something standard and more secure, I don't know who's intelligence is under question. If you're going to attack me, get your sorry ass out of my project and community. You have no right to influence my software and community when you're telling others to choose a non-standard hash instead of a more secure and standard one. And you have absolutely no right to say Picocrypt doesn't deserve a spot on privacytools.io, when Picocrypt is better and is already listed on the AwesomePrivacy List and has an article about it. No matter what you say, I will stand my position and on my honour as the creator of Picocrypt, I firmly stand by my choices, which are what have made Picocrypt and this community possible.
