How does Pi-Hole/Unbound handle DoH? Can't the Pi-Hole see it because it is encrypted? Or is the query only encrypted between client and Pihole?

  • Unbound

Unbound is a validating, recursive, and caching DNS resolver.

  • Noteworthy here is that unbound currently doesn't handle these new query types, but implementation is ongoing.

  • Pi-hole

A black hole for Internet advertisements

  • As a side note, well behaved DoH-enabled programs (e.g. Firefox) should query for the canary domain use-application-dns.net which, if blocked, will tell the program to use normal DNS. pi-hole has been blocking this domain for little over a year now.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
