Any usability studies on "name determines visibility"?

I did find some persons strongly objecting to Dart's approach, but I actually felt the arguments were pretty bad https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/33383 (I have no strong opinions either way, but the passive-aggressive comments by the persons promoting the "private" keyword was just embarrassing to read)

Huh. After glancing at Rosyln's codebase, that definitely does seem to be what they use in the very rare cases that they have public fields rather than properties. On the other hand, Unity seems to use lowercase for public fields and properties (example). And when I see people discuss language features regarding fields in the dotnet/csharplang repo, people usually use lowercase for fields and uppercase for properties (though that's basically always in the context of structs where public is default, so maybe there's something there too?).
