Will we ever get the "Text Property" feature from vim's 8.2.2863 patch?

This issue explains it better than I can since it's discussed by people who contribute to nvim and vim, but the TLDR is that neovim's extmark functionality as far as I'm aware (given I haven't used nor know a great deal about vim's textprops) provides very similar/potentially extra bits of functionality than textprops it's also accessible via the neovim api so can be easily used in nvim plugins and is actually already used in a lot of different places for some cool usecases like
