Discontinued Hyper-V Linux Guest VM Enhancements

  • Run a script to enable Enhanced mode for your distro. Microsoft has few official options, but there are more community-supported scripts in the Pull Requests tab. This will get you a better video experience right off the bat. If you compile and install pulseaudio-module-xrdp, you will have sound working out-of-the-box as well. Probably the best option, although video will still be a bit choppy.

  • x11-over-vsock

WSL Daemon - Stable X11 connection and time synchronisation for WSL2

  • Install vcxsrv and use X11 forwarding from your Guest to Windows via TCP. If you want this to be really lickety-split or if you do work that messes with your network connection, you can use VSOCK via x11-over-vsock. To get sound working, you can probably install Pulseaudio on windows and connect to your Linux guest that way.
