What text editor do you use?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/suckless

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • vis

A vi-like editor based on Plan 9's structural regular expressions (by martanne)

  • I can't remember where I first saw it or why I seem to recall it being spoken of as suckless, but vis might be something worth checking out, if you're into vim. There also emacs-nox, but I never really found out how to use emacs in a comfortable way.

  • kakoune-python-bridge

Send selections to python while keeping history of previous commands

  • You can have python plugin thanks to this bridge

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • luar

    Script Kakoune using Lua

  • You can have lua plugins thanks to this one

  • kilo

A text editor in less than 1000 LOC with syntax highlight and search.

  • kilo - smaller than ed (1000 sloc)

  • cloc

cloc counts blank lines, comment lines, and physical lines of source code in many programming languages.

  • FYI, cloc gives a total of 67057 lines of code for kakoune (91577 line counting blanks and comments). Can you give more details on how you obtained 200k ?

  • dotfiles

  • I am using programming GNU Emacs to be my ideal editor until I can port my configuration to Lem. I am no where near done (need to roll my own keybindings and such), but my dotfiles are here: https://gitlab.com/FOSSilized_Daemon/dotfiles/-/tree/master/src/configs/.emacs.d
