SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews. SaaSHub helps you find the best software and product alternatives
I currently use VS Code + Calva for my Clojure setup, which I'm more or less happy with, but it's not as minimalist as I would like. An editor I have played with in the past and really enjoyed was [Kakoune](https://kakoune.org/). It kind of felt like what I always wanted Vim to be: modal, explicitly keyboard-oriented, but with far better consistency and ergonomics.
There has been prior work, though you kinda need to dig for it. https://github.com/eraserhd/rep may be a starting point.
If Kakoune doesn't work out for you, I'd suggest you to give doom emacs a chance.
Maybe you can try λiquid? https://github.com/mogenslund/liquid
