  • BorgBackup

Deduplicating archiver with compression and authenticated encryption.

  • For Macs and Linux boxes I prefer Borg Backup with Vorta on top for clients and borgmatic for servers. Borg uses SSH for backups, and the only way to get SSH access on Synology is by being a member of the admin group, which is probably not what you want, at least not publicly exposed.

  • arq_restore

command-line utility for restoring from Arq backups

  • Another great option is Arq Backup. It’s paid, but supports backing up whenever an external drive is connected.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • syncthing-android

    Wrapper of syncthing for Android.

  • For synchronizing, as others have pointed out, use either SyncThing or Resilio Sync in docker. They both work well, and SyncThing is free, but I prefer Resilio ($50 lifetime license) because of its advanced features like storing data encrypted on untrusted devices. By using docker you can limit the access to only that specific folder where the backups are stored.
